Watch TV on Laptop

I would like to sell my TV, and use my laptop as a TV.
Is this possible? I can't find an external device that can do this. So far only PCI cards that are available.

This is perfectly possible; you're probably just looking in the wrong direction.  Instead of looking for a "TV Tuner" device in PCMCIA/Cardbus format, there are plenty of "video capture" devices available.  You'll need something to select a channel to pipe into it, since they aren't tuners, but if you're sophisticated enough to have a laptop, can I assume you have a VCR?  There you have it.

Other options might include a number of USB devices, but most of these are also capture devices and again, require some other device to act as a tuner.

You don't mention your model or make so it makes it just a little hard to make suggestions...

For example, my Thinkpad has built in TV capture and display as long as some external device such as a VCR supplies the tuning capability.  Do you have a Thinkpad, too?

Strongly dont recommend. TV will always have better image quality for tv reception than crt monitors (including laptops). Monitors where not designed to run at low resolutions and refresh rates.

Later

Due to the fact that an RF converter is in use on the PCI cards, They would not be able to as of yet any way make a compatible PCMCIA type device.  The only viable option has already been given.  USB is the only solution possible for a laptop unless someone has come out with a way of making a Micro Converter device.
Some relevant articles for your endeavor.

Note it is for Hauppage USB already suggested above.

a bit pricey but .........

That's cool a PCMCIA based adapter, but it still seems that the RF converter is an external one.  Note the external box.
