I have just migrated to a new Windows 2003 server with a higher specification than the one I had before. Everything is working perfectly except I cannot seem to FTP files from my server to FTP destinations out on the internet.
The problem is most definitely Windows firewall related as everything works perfectly when I disabled the firewall. I have therefore manually added exceptions for port 20 and port 21 in the firewall but it had no effect.
Strangely the FTP connects and the first file starts uploading but it always fails at the end of the file. It is like there is never any confirmation that the file upload has completed. Assumingly because the firewall is blocking the receiving part of the
FTP.
Can anybody shed any light on what ports i need to allow through so that FTP works and i also have my firewall on?
