The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

How do I make frontpage to have the same format for IE and Firefox?

Tags: Microsoft, Frontpage, 2003
I am tired of FrontPage. However my issue is that I am using Microsoft Frontpage as my web editor and any change I make is going to look different in Firefox. How I modify stuff in Frontpage is going to appear in IE however not in Firefox.

I am not very use to HTML however can someone guide me through on setting up Frontpage to show the exact thing in Firefox. Margins are moved within Firefox.

You need to create the web page using Frontpage as you normally do,  then browse it using IE.  If it is fine on IE browse it in FireFox.  Pay attention to the areas where the page goes wrong, then try to hand code these areas.

I think the page goes wrong in Firefox where tables are concerned.  Try to manually clean the table code.

Most of the time tables created in Frontpage misbehave in Firefox.  I usually hand code the tables.

You have also the Marquee and other Frontpage web components.

Other than that your page should look fine in Firefox.

In order for us to help you more you can view the page in Firefox and let us know what is wrong,  or just post the cose created by Frontpage here.

esquivelp,

what you can do as a beginner, is to set Page Options so, that all functions specific to Microsoft programs (especially Internet Explorer) are disabled.

So, go to Tools > Page Options > Authoring Tools tab and set options as shown in the attached picture (as I am working now with server without FrontPage Server  Extensions, I have ASP things disabled, too). Then will some of the options in the Insert menu be grayed and you will not be able to define some IE specific things (e.g. background picture in table Cell Properties).

The second thing is what cs97jjm3 said... but, there are two questions: WHY and HOW learn/use CSS?

Why to use CSS? Because many attributes used on web pages are obsolete and they are interpreted in web browsers in nonstandard way. In HTML 4.01, or, even better, XHTML, CSS is to be used to precisely describe what author wants. The result will be almost the same in all browsers (still almost :-(()... If you decide to go that way, I will suggest you to define DOCTYPE on your page and validate your code with validator (http://validator.w3.org/, look at the link "markup validity"). In FrontPage code view there is a nice function: right click > Apply XML formatting rules, which can help you make clean code.

How to learn CSS? Take time for it...

... or, you can in dialog boxes in Design view use as often as you can Style button instead of direct formatting.

Or, you can try with a simple learning materials from Microsoft, http://office.microsoft.com/training/training.aspx?AssetID=RC012111061033.

Once you'll master it, you can write valid XHTML pages using FrontPage (mostly Design view) :-))

If you have specific problem, you can post us code of your page, too.
