Will it be appropriate to choose career in SAP with my background? if yes then how to proceed?

I am a Mech Engg. graduate from NIT Bhopal, I did M.Tech. in Comp. Sc. & Tech from IIT Roorkee, in 1989, Then I did PGDBM from IMT and CISA. I have 15 yrs exp in industry and consultancy. for last 3 years I am in full time academia,  teaching in an Engg. college and heading a deptt., my package is around 9 Lack PA.  My age is 42 yrs.
