apache web server error

Nagios is configured on the webserver at
http://localhost/nagios/

here is the URL ( got it from "copy link location" on the link )
http://localhost/nagios/cgi-bin/status.cgi?hostgroup=all&style=hostdetail

"It appears as though you do not have permission to view information for any of the hosts you requested...
If you believe this is an error, check the HTTP server authentication requirements for accessing this CGI
and check the authorization options in your CGI configuration file."

Thanks, I did try that...  but i think i am missing the step of creating .htaccess file.. I will go try that..

by the way, does it matter if i m logged in as root??

I tried to log in as "nagios", it gave me bunch of gnome errors... by following documentation i have nagios as the username and as the group

./configure ....--with-nagios-user=nagios --with-nagios-grp=nagios

my question is that if i delete the nagios account (delete home directory also) AND then i create another account nagios.... would there be any errors..
i suppose not....

please advise..
It will not be a probelm if you recreate user nagios. But I think problem is tha user nagios don't have GNOME libraries in his PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables. Or maybe that libraries are can't be read by usual user.
i guess thats wat happened...it slammed me with repeating popup error windows...

I will try creating a new account with "nagios"

Is logged in under root an issue at all? i mean does the error ( below ) has any thing to do with being logged in under root?
