The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

User used to be able to copy a column of data and paste to excel which 'reformated' the data

I have very little experience with this so I hope someone can help:

I have just installed a new laptop for someone on the accounts dept who uses bespoke software from a company called GEAC called System21. This runs over our AS400 system and we use Client Access Express for Windows version 4.3 to interface with it.

The user used to be able to lasso a column of figures which would on some lines would be minus figures written as

6504.34-

She would either select copy or hold CTRL + Insert to copy the column. She would open Excel 2003 and either click Edit - Paste or Shift + Insert to paste this column of data.
On her old laptop this data would be automatically reformated so it was right aligned and the minus sign above would be on the left. It would also have a calculation on the bottom right of the screen in Excel such as SUM=8956.32.

I have checked options in Excel and options in the Client Access programs but can find nothing that looks like it may solve it. I have copied the contents of C:\Program Files\IBM folder to the new laptop but again this doesnt solve it.

I have attached (hopefully) two screen shots, one is of the column of data that would be copied and a screenshot of how Excel accepts and reformats it on her old laptop.
