Access shares with Netbios name- server 2008

Asked by daveokst in Active Directory, Net BIOS and NetBEUI, Windows Server 2008

I recently had a domain controller setup under a linux host using samba and was able to access shares using a netbios name like \\mydomain\share.

Recently I moved my PDC to Windows Server 2008 and have setup Active Directory and have it be the Primary Domain Controller.  I have been able to successfully join other systems to the domain, but I can't seem to access my shares using the Netbios name.

I can access them by the domain name...

\\myserver.foo.com\share.

I have also enabled Netbios over TCP/IP in the Advanced Settings of the Local Area Connection Properties.

Is there another step that I am missing?
