Ping Fails on specific host occasionally

Asked by strivoli in TCP/IP, Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP)

Tags: , , ,

Scenario: we have domain members called DM1 and DM2, domain controllers called DC1 and DC2. Occasionally DM1 fails ping to DC1. When it fails it can ping DC2, DM2 and itself (either using it's IP address or 127.0.0.1). DM1 is fully patched. No log entries on Windows logs on DM1 or DC1. When DM1 fails it fails for some minutes and then starts pinging again successfully (we use ping dc1 -t). When it fails, it fails even if we rerun ping using the IP address of DC1. Reboot of DM1 does not help. We cannot put another NIC on DM1 since it's a Blade. Any suggestions?Start Free Trial
