Before I moved to this company a server was setup with the local domain being configured as domain.co.za instead of domain.local
So when the clients try and browse to the website hosted on our servers it looks for the website on the local server instead of going out to our server.
The only short term solution i could think of is that I edit each computers host file with the domain.co.za xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -> that being our web servers ip.
It worked brilliantly (even though it took a while to do) until the day we upgraded the server and changed its IP at the same time. So now every single person cannot access their website.
logic tells me that because their local server is being used as the internal DNS server that i should be able to change a setting to point all the requests for web traffic to their website at our IP address. I am just worried that if I do change it the local DNS service will "corrupt" itself and require IP Addresses to be used.
This is urgent as we are busy testing their website and need their approval. Thanks.
