Task Folder Issues

We use Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2002.  Both applications are completely patched.

On some of our mailboxes - not all, but some, the Task Folders multiply.  We continually have to go and delete the task folders for those people.  When a delegate clicks on the calendar - the task folder spawns two new folders immediately.

One thing that we we have tried is to remove all the delegates to a mailbox and their associated folders.  Have everyone close out of outlook and then add the delegates back one at a time.  That worked for some of the mailboxes we are having problems with, but not all.

It does not appear to be equipment related in that it happens to both laptop and desktop users.  It also does not matter whether the user synchronizes with a palm pilot or not.  The only common denominator that we have found is that the person has delegates assigned to some folders.  There has to be more than that, because we have users who have delegates assigned and it is NOT happening to them.

Any suggestions???

Well, we have installed the recommended hot fixes and still have folders multiplying.  The multiplication occurs when the delegate (read secretary) clicks on the calendar for his or her boss (read calendar owner).

If you come up with anything else, I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks.

That article mentions this problem occurs if permissions are assigned like this:

********************************************
This problem may occur if the mailbox owner who you added has completed all the following:
Has given you Publishing Author permissions in their Outlook Today folder.
Has given you Review permissions or Author permissions in their Calendar folder.
Has given you Review permissions or Author permissions or Folder visible permission in their Inbox folder.
Has not given you permissions to their Tasks folder.
********************************************

Does that describe how the permissions are set?  You can test giving the user permission to the other person's task folder to see if the problem still occurs.
