Connection problems on port 443 (https)

Asked by M4NNY in Apple Operating Systems, OS-X Server

We are testing an offsite backup solution on one of our test servers. The client application connects to the offsite server on secured connection on port 443 (https).

The problem we have is that when the scheduled services are enabled to run the backup every hour, the scheduler stops responding. The only way to restart the it is by rebooting the service or the server.

If we connect to the offsite backup server on port 80 (http), the scheduler behaves and runs as it should. We also have client machines e.g macbook running OS 10.4 which are also loaded with the same application. If they are outside the mac network then they connect fine on the secured channel (https) and run the scheduled backups as normal but as soon as they are connected to the same network as the mac server then the scheduler stops on there too.

The backup client talks to the server at internals to check for any changes.

I am not a mac expert therefore i do i check what is causing the service to stop responding on the mac server. I disabled the firewall thinking that there may be something on there which may be causing this but made no change

Thanks for all the help in advanceStart Free Trial
